Get Involved With a CrimeWatch Block Club Today

The Emerson Heights Community Organization is dedicated to maintaining a safe neighborhood. You can help us achieve this goal by being a participant in a CrimeWatch Block Club. Starting or joining a block club is easy. The hard part is getting others to join you. Unfortunately, many people do not feel the need to be involved in a Block Club until something happens to them.

What is a CrimeWatch Block Club? It is a group of neighbors looking out for each other. It is getting to know your neighbors and their habits and vehicles so that you will know if there is something out of the ordinary or suspicious. It is letting the criminals know that you care about your neighborhood and that you are not going to stand by and let them get away with anything.

There are many benefits to Block Clubs. You help deter criminal activity, you help create a sense of security, you help reduce the fear of crime, you get to know your neighbors and build bonds with them, you learn how to make your home more secure, and you make a difference in the neighborhood. As a Block Club participant, you are not expected to become a vigilante or stop any crime. You are expected to call the police when you see something suspicious.

If you are interested in joining a Block Club, e-mail us at emersonheights@aol.com. We can tell you if there is an active Club in your block. If you are interested in starting a Block Club, contact Dequincy resident Joe Wade, home:353-6002 or cell:694-5427. Joe will work with you to help get your neighbors involved.
