Emerson Heights - A Green NeighborhoodA series of articles about ways that we can reduce energy consumption, save money and reduce the impact on the environment.
Posted on 06/12/07 Emerson Avenue Corridor Gateway ProjectThe Emerson Avenue Corridor Gateway Project will create a visual and physical sense of entry to the eastside of Indianapolis, while defining individual neighborhoods. The project will begin at the I-70/Emerson Avenue Interchange and go south to intersect with the Irvington Streetscape Project at Washington Street and on to the proposed Pennsy Trail.

A group of Emerson Heights residents are exploring how to improve 10th Street. The project is in the beginning stages and involves discussions with other neighborhood organizations that share 10th street as a boundary. The project is a product of the Revitalization Committee and interested parties may become involved by attending the Revitalization Committee meetings. The Good Schools, Good Neighborhood Initiative recognizes that quality neighborhood schools are an asset to the community, not only for the quality of education that they provide, but also for their ability to attract strong, stable families to a community and for their impact on property values. The Marketing Committee is a new group that works to develop and deliver consistent messages about the neighborhood that furthers the community's objectives. Emily Myers is the Chair. Posted on 01/19/06 Revitalization CommitteeThe Revitalization Committee is currently working on an inventory of housing, as well as assembling statistics and demographics on the neighborhood. The goal will be to have as complete a picture as possible of the community. The next project will be to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats to the neighborhood. With this foundation of knowledge, it should be possible to make good decisions about where to focus revitalization efforts. Rebecca Seifert is the Chair. Posted on 11/22/05
